Stirling Town:Stirling is a fascinating city with various attractions of it's own from the stunning medieval Stirling castle to the victorian Old Town Jail and not forgetting the modern day attractions such as the Thistles Shopping Center. There is plenty to do for everyone. Stirling is a fantastic city to visit and acts as a perfect base for visiting the rest of Scotland with excellent rail links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. There are great road links to most parts of Scotland, making it easy to move around various Scottish attractions without having to stay in different places each night. Activities:Scotland has a variety of attractions and activities which will suit everyone. The Scottish Munros such as Ben Ledie, Ben Lawers and Ben Lomond are excellent challenges for hill walking and climbing. Some of the best Scottish golf courses can be found within reasonable distance. St Andrews, Carnoustie, Troon and Muirfield are all just over an hour's drive and Gleneagles is only thirty minutes away. |
There are many interesting villages within 15 miles offering unique shopping experiences and excellent eateries. We have four fishing permits for salmon and trout which can be made available for a modest fee. The permits allow fishing on site at The Old Mill and also for the River Teith in Callander, 20 minutes by car. The local fisheries officer has described both as "hidden gems". The Forth and Teith allow fly fishing, spinning and bait fishing, and there are excellent facilities. The Stirling Fishery Service was the first in the UK to promote salmon conservation by issuing tags to anglers to limit the number of salmon that can be taken while still providing a full season of fishing. Last year anglers caught over 800 slamon on the Council's fisheries, with almost 60% being returned safely to the water. |
